You call that a typhoon?  Just a bit of wind and some brief showers.  Granted, the wind nearly knocked me off my motorscooter on the way to work, but compared to most typhoons it was weak.  And already hitting China, just a scant 24 hours after circling over Taiwan. Was hoping for at least a day (or two) off.  Damn.

    For some reason I always have trouble sleeping in the middle of a typhoon.  In my former abode that was understandable, as it was saddled with an illegal construction lean-to tacked on to the back of the place.  In a mild thunderstorm I would barely be able to hear the tv at full volume.  The place I'm at now is 100% legal so any rain is just a muted pitter-pat.  Perhaps it's the air pressure, or just might simply be an old habit I'll have to break.

   No, not the band.  Though they certainly deserve a blog post (or two).  Another (!) typhoon is going to his Taiwan, the second in as many weeks.  Forget about buying vegetables anytime soon.  Prices will double or triple after this.  If you live south of Xinzu then no school or work.  If you live in Taipei (like me) then you get the torrential rain (mmm, torrents) minus the chance to watch it from home. Global warming?  Nah, just a coinky-dink.
